McLaren Property, the leading residential and student accommodation developer has secured planning approval from the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham for a 291-bed student accommodation scheme at 1-3 Sussex Place, Hammersmith, W6.

The scheme will deliver 291 purpose-built student bedrooms, comprising 147 cluster apartments and 144 studios, with 35% of the accommodation provided at affordable rents. McLaren Property has entered into a nominations agreement with Imperial College London, the world-leading STEMB institution. The agreement will give Imperial students access to over 100 affordable beds, in a location ideally situated for its South Kensington, White City and Hammersmith Hospital Campuses.

Sussex Place, W6 is situated immediately adjacent to Hammersmith station, one of London’s best-connected transport hubs, offering students exceptional access to universities and colleges across the capital. The site’s prime location places almost 200,000 full-time students within a 45-minute commute, reinforcing its ability to meet the significant and growing demand for excellent student accommodation in London.

The approval of the plans for Sussex Place, Hammersmith, will see a brownfield site, which is currently an outdated and poor quality office building, transformed through the delivery of a 14-storey PBSA building, which has been sensitively designed by WGP architects to blend into the character of the area.

Residents will benefit fro a range of first-class indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, including a landscaped courtyard garden and skywalk roof terrace. The proposals will introduce significant greening and biodiversity enhancements, creating a more connected and sustainable neighbourhood, while the development is targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

The location benefits from excellent connections, with Hammersmith a major transport hub only three-minutes’ walk away and bus connections two minutes away. Existing walking and cycle routes, including the Thames Path, will be enhanced, with the development providing 204 cycle spaces.
